Drone Inspection on Brise Soleil

Project Overview

We were instructed by an independent pharmacy to carry out a detailed aerial inspection of their brise soleil system using our advanced drone technology. These architectural features, while visually appealing and effective for solar shading, are often overlooked during routine building maintenance – yet they are particularly prone to structural wear, corrosion, loose fixings, and debris accumulation over time.

Our Approach

Given the pharmacy’s ongoing concern about potential hazards posed by loose panels or degraded fixings, our mission was to deliver a clear and comprehensive visual assessment – quickly, safely, and without any disruption to business operations.

Using high-resolution photography and video, we conducted a visual inspection of the brise soleil and surrounding facade, zooming in to examine:

  • Joint and bracket integrity

  • Corrosion or rust along metal fins

  • Movement or dislodgement of panels

  • Organic build-up such as moss or leaf matter

  • Sealant breakdown or deterioration at anchor points

Our drones allowed us to capture views that traditional methods—like scaffolding or cherry pickers—would have made costly, time-consuming, and potentially unsafe.

Key Findings

The inspection identified a number of issues:

  • Several panels showing early signs of corrosion at fixings

  • One section slightly misaligned due to wind stress over time

  • Debris buildup likely to impact drainage and airflow

All findings were clearly documented and delivered via a digital report, complete with annotated images and professional commentary suitable for facilities management records or contractor follow-up.

Why This Matters

Brise soleil systems, while often installed and forgotten, can pose real safety risks when left unchecked—particularly in public-facing settings like pharmacies, schools, and office blocks. Over time, weather exposure and wind uplift can weaken fixings or cause panels to detach. Routine inspections not only ensure continued performance and safety, but also protect building owners from liability and costly emergency repairs.

Who Should Consider a Brise Soleil Drone Inspection?

  • Facilities Managers responsible for retail or healthcare environments

  • Commercial Landlords ensuring compliance and tenant safety

  • Construction Companies wanting to document handover quality

  • Schools and Colleges with architectural sunshading features

  • Anyone with elevated facade elements prone to weather damage

Drone Inspection on Brise Soleil

The Results

This inspection was a proactive step for our pharmacy client, helping them stay ahead of potential maintenance issues while maintaining public safety and structural integrity. If your building features brise soleil—or any similar cladding or facade system—we’d strongly recommend periodic drone inspections as a fast, cost-effective and non-disruptive solution.
