Case Study: Marshalls Construction – Drone Photography & Videography in Widnes
Project Overview
Rotorgraph Surveys Ltd was commissioned by Marshalls Construction to provide professional drone photography and videography at their commercial development site in Widnes, Cheshire. The project involved documenting the construction of a single large commercial unit, capturing key stages of the build from an empty site through to completion.
The Objective
Marshalls required a full visual timeline to demonstrate the transformation of the site—ideal for stakeholder presentations, marketing purposes, and reinforcing their reputation for delivering high-quality builds. They needed a drone partner who could operate safely and reliably, without disrupting on-site activities.
Our Aerial Media Approach
We implemented a three-stage drone documentation strategy, aligned with Marshalls’ construction schedule:
Pre-Construction Flyover
Our first visit captured the undeveloped site and surrounding context, providing a baseline record of the area before works commenced. This was essential for visual comparison and early-phase marketing materials.
Construction Progress Monitoring
We conducted multiple drone visits throughout the build, capturing key milestones such as groundworks, steel frame erection, cladding, and site infrastructure. These regular updates enabled Marshalls to share professional progress reports with clients and internal teams.
Final Completion Shoot
Upon handover, we returned to capture the finished commercial unit in its entirety, producing a polished flyover video and a portfolio of high-resolution still images. These assets now serve as a premium showcase of Marshalls’ workmanship and site planning.
